UNH President Elizabeth Chilton delivered her first State of the University address to the UNH community on Tuesday, Feb. 11, speaking in front of a large crowd in the Memorial Union Building and to many more watching via livestream on Zoom. Her remarks highlighted successes from the last year and also addressed ways UNH plans to tackle several upcoming challenges.
Chilton began her address by celebrating recent successes, including enrollment holding steady for the first time since 2017, and she called out a host of student achievements, as well, including numerous national fellowships and prestigious scholarships students have recently earned. She later shifted to addressing some challenges in front of the university, including financial challenges, policy shifts originating from Washington, D.C. under the current presidential administration and the topic of freedom of speech on campus.
